Lynwood Unified Honors Parent Volunteers During Seasonal Festivities

Lynwood Unified School District celebrated the hardworking parent volunteers who contribute to the success of students as they progress in their academic journeys as part of National Volunteer Month.

Students, school administrators, teachers and staff expressed their appreciation through a range of exciting activities in April and May, including a breakfast celebration at Hosler Middle School, where Principal John Terry expressed his gratitude.

“A school community cannot function without the parents - they are essential,” Terry said. “We can’t exist without you and your support makes our school what it is. I can’t thank you enough.”

Marshall Elementary on April 20 honored parents with a potluck and certificates of appreciation and tokens of gratitude for their contributions to the schools. Lugo Elementary held a Volunteers Spirit Week from April 17-21, where students and teachers designed and hung a thank you banner with notes of appreciation and created a video in acknowledgment of their parent volunteers. Rosa Parks Elementary held a Fashion Extravaganza and Volunteer Tea Gathering on May 10.

To cap off celebrations, Washington Elementary will host a luncheon awards ceremony on Thursday, May 25, where parents will be treated to a delicious meal and fun-filled activities.

Lynwood Unified recognizes the selfless service of parents who devote their time and energy to supporting their children's schools. The involvement of parents is essential to the success of their children's education, and the collaboration which exists between them and the District is a testament to its success.

Thank you, volunteer parents!
