Superintendent's Community Message | October 5, 2025

Dear Lynwood Unified Community,

October is an exciting and important month for our students, as it marks the beginning of the college application and financial aid season. Our incredible college and career staff are hard at work leading workshops, college visits, spirit weeks and more, helping them navigate the next step in their journeys. I encourage every student to take advantage of these resources, ask questions and complete their forms – we don’t want anyone to miss the opportunity to attend their college of their dreams or to maximize the financial aid available to help them get there.

I also have some wonderful news to share: our Parent Engagement Program has been officially recognized with a 2025 CSBA Golden Bell Award! This is a huge honor and a testament to the dedication of our Equity, Access and Instructional Services team to ensuring that families are represented and that their voices are heard and valued. We look forward to accepting this prestigious award in December.

Last week, we held our third Facilities Optimization Committee meeting, reviewing the condition, capacity, and demographics of all 12 elementary schools, along with transportation data. These discussions are helping us plan for the future of Lynwood Schools, where our vision is for each campus to offer robust signature programs and innovative academies in STEM, artificial intelligence, visual and performing arts, athletics and more. This is the next chapter for our District, and I encourage families and staff to stay engaged through our website and YouTube channel as these important conversations continue.

Looking ahead, we are also preparing our schools for the future through technology. Thanks to a new partnership with OpenAI, ChatGPT will soon be available to all faculty and staff, helping to enhance productivity, inspire creativity and streamline daily tasks like generating lesson ideas or providing differentiated support for learners.

Finally, a reminder that Monday, October 6, is a Pupil Free Day. While students have the day off, our staff will use this time for professional development to continue providing the best education for our learners.

We have so much to be proud of – and even more to look forward to.

Estimada Comunidad del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Lynwood,

Octubre es un mes emocionante e importante para nuestros alumnos, ya que marca el comienzo de la temporada de solicitudes universitarias y ayuda económica. Nuestro increíble personal de  colegios y profesiones está trabajando duro para organizar talleres, visitas a universidades, semanas temáticas y mucho más, con el fin de ayudarles a dar el siguiente paso en su trayectoria. Ánimo a todos los alumnos a que aprovechen estos recursos, hagan preguntas y rellenen formularios – no queremos que nadie pierda la oportunidad de asistir a la universidad de sus sueños o de aprovechar al máximo la ayuda financiera disponible para conseguirlo.

También tengo una noticia maravillosa que compartir: nuestro Programa de Participación de Padres ha sido reconocido oficialmente con el Premio Golden Bell 2025 de CSBA! Es un gran honor y un testimonio de la dedicación de nuestro equipo de Equidad, Acceso y Servicios de Instrucción en asegurar que las familias estén representadas y que sus voces sean escuchadas y valoradas. Esperamos con emoción recibir este prestigioso premio en diciembre.

La semana pasada llevamos a cabo nuestra tercera reunión del Comité de Optimización de Instalaciones, en la que se revisó el estado, la capacidad y la demografía de las 12 escuelas primarias, junto con los datos de transporte. Estas discusiones nos están ayudando a planificar el futuro de las escuelas de Lynwood, donde nuestra visión es que cada plantel escolar ofrezca programas sólidos y academias innovadoras en STEM, inteligencia artificial, artes visuales y escénicas, atletismo y mucho más. Este es el siguiente capítulo para nuestro Distrito, y ánimo a las familias y al personal a que sigan participando a través de nuestro sitio web y nuestro canal de YouTube a medida que continúan estas importantes conversaciones.

Mirando hacia el futuro, también estamos preparando nuestras escuelas para el futuro a través de la tecnología. Gracias a una nueva asociación con OpenAI, ChatGPT pronto estará disponible para todos los maestros y personal, lo que ayudará a mejorar la productividad, inspirar la creatividad y agilizar las tareas diarias, como generar ideas para las clases u ofrecer apoyo diferenciado a los alumnos.

Por último, les recordamos que el lunes 6 de octubre es un Día Sin Alumnos. Mientras los alumnos disfrutan de su día libre, nuestro personal aprovechará este tiempo para formarse profesionalmente para seguir ofreciendo la mejor educación a nuestros aprendices.

Tenemos mucho de qué estar orgullosos, y aún más por lo que esperar con emoción.
